Malaika Jones Kebede Elected to Foundation Board
Malaika Jones Kebede was recently elected to to the Board of the Jack and Jill of America Foundation. Malaika grew up in the Washington, DC Chapter of Jack and Jill and currently serves as the Chair of the Chapter's Fundraising/Beneficiary Committee. She also hosted the tea for prospective new members in her beautiful home last fall. Malaika and her husband, Hizbawi, have a son, Semai, in Group 1, and daughter, Milana, in Group 2. Her mother, Marcela Jones, started our Chapter's signature event, Jumoke nearly 25 years ago.
Malaika is an entrepreneur, investor and founding principal of The J Group, a business consulting and philanthropic advisory firm. She is currently launching her second startup. Previously, Malaika was a Senior Vice President at JP Morgan Securities in the Trading and Investment Banking divisions.
Jack and Jill of America Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Each chapter supports the Foundation by donating at least 1/3 of its fundraising dollars to Foundation on annual basis. Since its inception in 1968, the Foundation has distributed millions of dollars to communities all across America. In so doing, the Foundation is fulfilling its shared vision with Jack and Jill of America, Inc., to invest in the future of our children. The Foundation supports programs that not only create opportunities and challenges for children to learn and practice leadership skills, but also build leadership character in youth. The ultimate goal of every Foundation grant dollar is to empower young people to make the right life choices.
