Children Participate in National Day of Service

Tina Hamilton Easter's daughter, Auden (Group 2), and her cousin, Addison, joined Chelsea Clinton in making cards for terminally ill and homeless children to commemmorate the National Day of Service.  Here is a link to the photo, which was also featured on the front page of Metro Section of the Washington Post:

Children from all of the age groups answered the call to serve by participating in the "Inaugural Weekend Cookie Bake for the Homeless and Hungry".  (Photo above:  Group 2 and 4 baking and decorating cookies at the Romine's house.)  Over 1000 cookies were baked and delivered to organizations supporting the homeless and hungry in our city -- So Others Might Eat, Thrive DC, Martha's Table, and New Community for Children.  Also on the National Day of Service, moms, dads and children from the Chapter went to New Community for Children, our community service partner for the 2012-13 program year, to spruce up the top floor of the center.  They sanded and painted walls, built organizing stations and cleaned up.  According to the center's Director of Programs, their kids were smiling and tearing with thanks after they saw the transformed space.
